Is this a good computer?
It should do fine. If you can't play it at top speeds, quality and monitor settings, I suggest getting a geforce 9600gt w/512ram on board ddr3 memory card. $100 through Amazon. Free shipping if you don't mind waiting a week. I usually buy HP since there is generally more room in the tower than Compaq, just a Personalpreference. You have a very good set-up though--better than mine except for RAM and graphics card. Check your vista score (go to control panel, then hit performance, and update performance score. Anything less than a 5.9 score on any category is where you may want to upgrade a component(s). But do not exceed the front side bus speed with a component, it wont hurt anything, but will only run at the fsb speed of 1066 so you will waste money. Also, check to see what is the maximum ram you can use on your mother board, exceed the max ram and you will melt at the very least your ram chip (trust me, I did it once). PCIe cards are now the fastest going, but you must have available slots for what you want to add. WARNING: You don't have to have the best to have a great gaming machine--some people go WAY overboard. I have seen $2700 video cards and base-priced $8500 PCs. Save your money unless you have more than you can ever spend. Just my opinion. Besides, there will always be faster in a few years!
