REPHRASING LAST QUESTION: 8 month old kitten a handful?

Ever since we got her from when she was 8 weeks old she has been too destructive to allow her to sleep anywhere around the house so we keep her in the kitchen with the door shut at night but in the day she is allowed to do as she pleases. I feel so bad because if i go to get a drink or something in the night she runs out through the door and purrs around my legs and I have to pick her back up and shut her in there. Last time i convcied my mum to leave the doors open at night she pulled down the curtains and knocked down an Egyptian pot. What should i do or should i let her sleep in my room?
